Golden envelope number one was opened at Friday’s MAD Blog Awards. Sadly it did not contain my name this year. But it did reveal the name of super talented Rachael who won the best photography category. Just nip over to her blog to see her awesome pictures. Well done Rachael!
Thank you though to everyone who took the time to nominate me and then the trouble to vote yet again. That effort ensured I had a fabulous visit to London, met some rather lovely bloggers and stayed in a super hotel.
It kind of felt I had won anyway. I mean, it’s not every day I get to do that. And dress up. In a lovely (to me) dress, complete with high heels. Thank you Sally and Jen for the opportunity to leap out of my comfort zone and to do something I never get the chance to normally do.
There was the British Museum, black cabs, plates of late night pasta, chatting, a queen sized bed and lots and lots of bloggers.
A sweet friend also pointed out, I was a winner in her eyes because it was the first time in more than 20 years (TWENTY YEARS!!) that I have been this size. I had time to nip along Oxford Street (not something I’m particularly champing at the bit to do again) and bought a pair of size ten jeans. Now that's a sentence I never thought I'd write.
And while all this waffle about being thin is indeed shallow and boring, it represents an accomplishment of sorts to me. I know it doesn’t ultimately matter what size jeans I wear.
You know what - I lied. It does.
Losing 48.5lbs is not easy. Food is everywhere. Plus eating is such fun. So pleasurable. Admittedly it’s a pleasure that could easily lead to hospital via the diabetes/heart/stroke route. And that’s a path I’m eager not to take. Hence the healthy eating regime.
So this week I was (finally!) presented with a gold envelope after reaching my goal weight. It contains nearly everything I will hopefully need to maintain this weight. The will power is down to me. Wish me luck.
