What a beautiful start to the new year! Fabulous weather, fresh and invigorating. Just what you need, really, after a week of stupor, stuffing your face and tv watching.
So we went for a walk. A long one along the South Downs Way. There was a very muddy dog, tears (how many times do we say not to run on stony, uneven ground? Obviously not enough), sweets, hot chocolate, ruddy cheeks and runny noses.
And there was moaning but we feel duty bound to make teenagers do things they're not keen on. Like family walks. Otherwise, what would there be to moan about?
Try as I might not to make resolutions there have been an awful lot popping into my head this year. Mostly centred around the traditional fitness and food.
But also, I want to slow down (haha!). I want a simpler, fresher kind of living. To embrace home cooking again (I used to love it) instead of thinking of it as a chore. We all need to eat healthier. I fear I've taken my eye off the ball a bit.
I need also to get organised so that I'm not always "popping" into town. And be more efficient with my blogging/internet time which has a way, familiar to most no doubt, of sucking me in. Oh my, there is so much I need to get a handle on.
Yet, despite all that I do feel energised by the new beginning heralded by the new year, even if it is only a number and, really, I could start all these things any time.
So I haven't committed any of these thoughts on to paper (although I've talked about them here). It's enough they are buzzing around my head.
Instead I shall, in that time honoured blog tradition, choose my Word of the Year. Last year I chose DISCOVERY and it was very apt.
I'll tell you about my new word next time. Do you have a word or any resolutions?
